Forum Title: How low on a door can install cat door?
I need to cut a hole through my door to put in a cat door. The door has some paneling on it, so I was going to mount it under the paneling. There will be about 2 inches of space from the bottom of the cutout to the bottom of the door, is that ok?

There's a temporary problem with uploading pics which should be fixed next week. In the meantime, maybe you could upload them to a pic hosting site and post the link here?

Your door is probably a hollow core. Along the bottom couple inches there will be wood and the upper part of your door will be in the core which is usually a cardboard honeycomb. So, don't be surprised if the cutting is easier for the upper part and more difficult at the bottom.

I'd try to leave the bottom frame in tact - about 1.25-1.5 I'd set the bottom of the cat door on that wood.
