Forum Title: What size door do I need
I am replacing a garage to home entry door. I've done a lot around the house, but I'm having a slight issue figuring out exactly what size door I need here. It's 32x80 but the depth is what I'm struggling with. It's a 2x6 wall so I thought I needed a 6 9/16 jamb but take a look at the pictures. The side seems right but when I measure the sill it looks close to 5 1/2 without that extension. So what do I have here? A 5 1/2 jamb with extensions and a sill extension? Thanks

If I had to guess I would suggest you contact Emco via their customer support website link.

Yes, get a 32x80, 6 9/16 door. (These are a stock item at many stores since it is a standard size) The adjustable threshold that it comes with should be correct... it will likely be a 5 3/4 sill with an additional 1 3/8 or 2 sill nose extender. If / when the wall thickness is not quite right (likely due to 5/8 sheetrock on one side) you can add a thin jamb extension onto one side or the other. When the difference is minor you usually want to flush up the door with the exterior side, and add (what I imagine will be) 5/32 x 3/4 pine screen moulding to the interior side. Step it back 3/16 from the inside edge of the door, and step the inside edge of your casing back another 3/16 from that.

Thanks for the replies. Do most doors come with an adjustable threshold? This is the door I was looking at:JELD-WEN 32 in. x 80 in. 6-Panel Primed 20 Minute Fire Rated Steel Prehung Right-Hand Inswing Front Door-THDJW166100236 - The Home Depot
